Union bosses face jail for punishing whistleblowers

Union officials acting against whistleblowers would be automatically removed from office and face up to two years' jail under proposals by the Coalition.

Employment Minister Michaelia Cash said a re-elected Coalition would act on the recommendations of the trade union royal commission to increase penalties for union officials found to have engaged in reprisals against whistleblowers.
