Queensland tourism operators are preparing for an influx of southern tourists from next week, but are still dealing with chronic staff shortages that could affect whether they can open full-time over the busy summer period.

While tourism businesses have welcomed the Palaszczuk government’s announcement it plans to allow quarantine-free travel for people from NSW and Victoria from Monday, some companies are still trying to work out the logistics of how to deal with the new requirement of a PCR test on day five of people’s holidays.
