Fears of a new coronavirus outbreak in Queensland have eased, despite the Melbourne couple who fled the Victorian lockdown testing positive to COVID-19.

Amid concerns about coronavirus exposure in three states after the illegal five-day road trip across them, Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said she was confident Queensland would avoid a serious outbreak because the couple were towards the end of their illness and so were less infectious.
