Race card played at heated Sydney council meeting
A Sydney deputy mayor has called on Chinese Australians to “stand up and fight back” after being referred to the NSW corruption watchdog over an undisclosed connection to a property developer.
Simon Zhou made an impassioned speech to Ryde Council on Tuesday night, breaking into Chinese at times, to say attacks against him were racially motivated because he was born on the mainland.
