Dozens arrested after anti-war protest turns violent

Dozens of anti-war protesters were arrested in Melbourne’s CBD as a rally against a defence expo morphed into a broader action protesting against Israel’s invasion of Gaza and turned violent.
Police pelted protesters with rubber bullets, batons, pepper spray, tear gas, and flash bang grenades, while protesters returned fire with rocks, bottles, horse poo, eggs, rotten vegetables, and liquid that police claimed was acid.
