Perrottet intervenes to secure gender parity in upper house

Premier Dominic Perrottet has taken drastic action to get more women into the state’s upper house, brokering a deal to drop three male MPs to make way for a ticket with equal numbers of men and women.

As the federal Liberals mull the findings of an election review that found most women preferred Labor in all ages from 18 to 55-plus, the NSW executive will be asked to endorse a Legislative Council ticket selected with gender parity in mind.
