Palaszczuk goes stale with voters, deputy hits back against ‘gossip’
Pollsters say Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s connection with voters has nosedived but her deputy, Steven Miles, dismissed talk she must step aside for Labor to be competitive at the next election as “rumours and gossip”.
Ms Palaszczuk began a fortnight of leave on Saturday, including a trip to Europe, following a difficult political week in which the state government introduced new laws allowing children to be held in police watch houses.
