NSW moves to ban offshore gas but PEP-11 owners vow to push on
The proponents of a high-profile offshore gas project in NSW once targeted by Scott Morrison have vowed to push on with the venture in Commonwealth waters, skirting a new proposed ban on offshore drilling in the state.
The NSW government on Wednesday moved to prohibit all offshore oil, gas and mineral mining and exploration, introducing legislation that Energy and Environment Minister Penny Sharpe said would protect the environment and give more certainty to coastal communities.
