NSW home insurance bills to be slashed under levy change

NSW homeowners stand to have hundreds of dollars slashed from their insurance bills under a state government plan to scrap an emergency services tax tacked onto premiums.

The federal government and the insurance industry welcomed the Minns government’s decision to scrap the levy, which was shown to have lifted some premiums by as much as 40 per cent while driving the state’s level of insurance coverage to the lowest in the country.
