Not our fault, says Cook in attack on 'excessive' salaries

MERCHANT bankers were being paid too much by "any measure", Senator Peter Cook said yesterday, as he defended the Government's position on the high salaries received by senior executives at AIDC Ltd, during the Senate's question time.
Responding to a question from the Opposition, Senator Cook said the salaries received by AIDC senior executives were a reflection of "universally" excessive salaries in the merchant banking sector.
