The Minns government is scrambling to solve a leadership crisis in NSW’s top racing body after sensationally dumping a bill to extend the current chairman’s term rather than accept amendments which that tighten scrutiny of the body.
Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys was seeking urging meetings with the government on Friday to discuss “outright lies” he said helped prompt the government’s sudden backflip, which means Racing NSW chairman Russell Balding’s term will expire on December 18.
