Melbourne mayor faces challenge by pro-business Labor candidate

Melbourne lord mayor Sally Capp may be challenged by a Labor candidate campaigning on an unusual platform: that the former property-industry lobbyist isn't pro-business enough.

Jennifer Yang, a Monash University computing graduate, is planning to nominate for mayor on September 17 when the contest for the council opens, according to a source. Victorian council elections will be conducted by post in October.
