Weather and climate experts have predicted more heavy rainfall and flooding to continue for the next few months as the La Niña weather system continues to cause havoc for residents in low-lying areas in south-east Queensland and northern NSW.

As Queensland authorities confirmed a second man had died in the most recent weather event, towns in northern NSW, like Lismore, were preparing for a flood peak on Tuesday evening.
