Labor to ban club donations but stops short of cashless pokie pledge

NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns will ban political donations from pubs and clubs and has vowed to reduce the number of poker machines in the state, in a pre-election gaming reform package which the state’s most powerful union body says does not go far enough.

As poker machine gambling reform emerges as a major issue ahead of a state election in March, the NSW Labor leader has committed to expanding a cashless gaming trial to 500 machines and has pledged to slash a current cash input limit on machines from $5000 to $500.
