As he takes power, the newly sworn-in president boasts of an international group of right-wing proxies with equally provocative styles and a hostility towards migrants and “wokery”.
As the debris was cleared from the Capitol after the storming of Congress, it looked like Donald Trump would also soon be consigned to the dustbin of history.
“There is truth, and there are lies. Lies told for power and for profit,” Joe Biden said at his inauguration in a rebuke of Trump’s false claims the election was stolen.
