Federal authorities are investigating the money trail left by Chinese billionaire Huang Xiangmo, who broke his silence on Wednesday and raised the spectre of local government corruption. He also confirmed that $11 million was funnelled from one of his own property deals.

The Australian Financial Review has been told law enforcement bodies and intelligence agencies are investigating Mr Huang's business activities with a view to taking further action against the property developer and his associates.
