A key NSW disaster agency should be scrapped, according to a damning report into the deadly Northern Rivers floods in March, which found Resilience NSW and the state’s emergency services failed the community and effectively forced residents “to save themselves”.
A report on the NSW Flood Inquiry has condemned the NSW State Emergency Service and Resilience NSW – which is headed by former NSW Australian of the Year Shane Fitzsimmons – for failing to provide leadership and co-ordination during catastrophic flooding in February and March.
