Glebe Island housing plan risks freight cost blowout

A plan to build up to 5700 dwellings on prime Sydney harbour-front land has been thrown into doubt by a warning to the Minns government that loss of the harbour’s last “irreplaceable” working port will push up consumer prices.

As cabinet considers moving the Bays Port at Glebe Island and White Bay, just west of Sydney’s CBD, Transport Minister John Graham has released a freight review headed by Kerry Schott that pours cold water on the plan.
