Frydenberg rolled on proxy advice changes

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s attempt to impose strict independence and licensing rules on proxy advisers has been quashed by the Senate three days after coming into force.
The overturning of the regulations was welcomed by the industry super sector, which had argued the changes were an attempt to kneecap its chief proxy adviser, while business groups said the outcome was a setback for transparency.
