The damage bill from the wild weather and flooding in Queensland and NSW is expected to top $2 billion, making it one of Australia’s most expensive natural disasters.

As the heavy rain system moves towards Sydney, with fears of significant flooding in the city’s west, insurers warned the damages bill for major infrastructure, homes and businesses would continue to rise.
