The elderly female Liberal voter sitting next to me is deeply alarmed Josh Frydenberg might lose his seat on Saturday. The country needs him, the party needs him, she says firmly.

But don’t even get her started on her dislike and distrust of Scott Morrison – particularly driven by his “treatment of women”. That is even though she insists she was reasonably well-disposed towards him in 2019.
