He might have been at the National Press Club to speak about university reforms, but this week Education Minister Jason Clare delivered what could be the single best retail pitch to voters on the Indigenous Voice to parliament.

Criticising opponents of the referendum for wanting to preserve the failing status quo, Clare said the Voice was about stopping the rot in Indigenous affairs and not about throwing more good taxpayers’ money after bad.
