Wadeye is a community of nearly 2000, deeply divided by 22 clan groups, but on the question of whether there should be an Indigenous Voice to parliament recognised in the Constitution, it was united.

Tobias Nganbe is angry about the results of the referendum to enshrine an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in the Constitution.

A Murrinhpatha man and senior Rak Kirnmu traditional owner, Nganbe lives in the Aboriginal community of Wadeye, a six-hour drive from Darwin at the end of a red dirt road on the Northern Territory’s north-west coast.
