The Victorian government effectively sold its beleaguered motor registration and licensing business to a private consortium for $8 billion more than two years ago.
Motor registry and licensing systems are the same world over. Still, several attempts to overhaul VicRoads’ creaking technology had ended in tears, after the project budget blew out by $135 million above the approved budget of $158 million.
