Protests, record delta cases and worst earthquake shake Victoria

Victorians have been warned to prepare for aftershocks for “weeks and even months” after the state’s biggest earthquake left 35,000 households without power as insurers started tallying the cost of property damage.

The 5.9-magnitude earthquake was felt by residents in NSW, ACT, Tasmania and Queensland, and caused “minor structural damage” to building facades and chimneys throughout Melbourne.
