Tudge never queried legality of robo-debt, commission hears

Former human services minister Alan Tudge never sought advice over the legality of the robo-debt scheme, despite admissions he was aware it was likely to inaccurately represent a welfare recipient’s income.
Employing a similar line to the defence by former social services minister Scott Morrison, Mr Tudge told the robo-debt royal commission he would have expected to be advised if the scheme was unlawful.
