The fight for Project Valhalla: King backs owners over ‘outside’ activists

Federal Resources Minister Madeleine King has thrown her support behind a traditional owner group pushing for a huge gas fracking project in Western Australia, warning that Indigenous voices should not be drowned out by external environmental opponents.

The major proposal by US-backed Black Mountain Energy in the Kimberley has sparked fierce opposition from environmental campaigners, but the Yungngora Aboriginal Corporation, which represents the local Noonkanbah pastoral lease native title holders, supports the project.
