The alarming next step in Trump’s trade war that has CEOs rattled

Business leaders have urged Labor and the Coalition to reject any demands from US President Donald Trump to join his trade war against China after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent foreshadowed a collective approach with allies to contain Beijing.

After announcing tariffs of up to 49 per cent on dozens of countries last week, Trump on Thursday said he would instead impose a blanket 10 per cent tariff for 90 days to negotiate with trading partners.
