Small firms fight push to force data-breach reporting

Small business is fighting to be kept out of a regime that governs how customer data is held and protected, arguing that the added burden would be too complex and costly when the economy is softening.
The push to avoid the extension of the Privacy Act to firms with a turnover of less than $3 million comes amid final cabinet consideration of reforms designed to modernise the 1988 Privacy Act.
