Arthur Sinodinos has anointed businessman, economist and former federal MP Peter Hendy to replace him in the Senate, ahead of Sunday's preselection battle for which former senator Jim Molan is the favourite.
In a letter to preselectors, Senator Sinodinos, who has been appointed Australia's next ambassador to the United States, extols Dr Hendy's bona fides in tax and industrial relations reform spanning more than three decades.
