Residents call for better dam management in Sydney flood disaster

Flood-stricken Hawkesbury residents have urged the NSW government to rethink its management of the Warragamba Dam, claiming dam spills timed for heavy rain have hit communities with a flooding “double whammy”.

A natural disaster was declared across more than 20 local government areas in NSW after four days of heavy rains triggered flooding and left more than 50,000 residents without power and under evacuation orders and warnings.
