Since cannibalising the base vote of the former Australian Democrats in the early noughties, between 2010 and 2022 the Greens’ primary vote has hovered between 8 per cent and 12 per cent of the national vote in the House of Representatives.

Our profiling at the Australian Development Strategies of the Greens vote across seats shows the party’s primary vote locked in a demographic cohort of middle-class, inner-urban, university students of creative arts, architecture or education.
