Qld’s property tax change offers foreign investor relief

Queensland plans to make it easier for overseas investors to bypass foreign surcharge taxes to boost investment in high density accommodation and agriculture ahead of a state budget economists warn will do little to turn around spiralling debt levels.

Property industry figures have long advocated for the state to ditch foreign land tax surcharges to help local companies lean on global institutional investors to build projects needed to house Queensland’s rapidly growing population.
