One of Australia’s most powerful unions has warned new Labor senator Dorinda Cox against employing ideological extremism on the government’s pro-gas agenda amid internal party concerns in Western Australia over her defection from the Greens.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shocked colleagues on Monday when he revealed Cox was quitting the Greens to join the government benches in the Senate in a move that has stoked consternation in sections of the West Australian Labor Party.
