PM, states, to rein in ‘unsustainable’ NDIS

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has admitted for the first time that Labor’s signature National Disability Insurance Scheme is becoming financially unsustainable, as he won agreement from the states to almost halve the scheme’s growth rate to 8 per cent within three years.

But the states appear to have rebuffed overtures by the Commonwealth to renegotiate the failed 50:50 funding arrangement for the NDIS, as the government is seeking.
