A shake-up of Australia’s electoral laws is being designed to withstand a High Court challenge from mining billionaire Clive Palmer, amid a push for new donation laws to be in place for next year’s poll.
Special Minister of State Don Farrell is close to finalising draft laws to cap political donations, limit how much parties can spend in individual seats and lower the threshold for public disclosure of donor to $1000.
