Nuclear submarine base for the east coast
Australian, American and British nuclear-powered submarines will operate from the east coast under a $10 billion plan to build a naval base somewhere between Wollongong and Brisbane, prompted by fears of growing regional instability.
Declaring the international rules-based order to be under assault, Prime Minister Scott Morrison will announce on Monday the construction of the new base which will operate in addition to the existing Indian Ocean submarine base in Stirling, Western Australia.
