No relief until Monday: heat, thunderstorms to raise fire danger

The weekend will bring "warm, uncomfortable nights" and thunderstorms to the east coast, ensuring that bushfire risk, which prompted the ACT to declare its first state of emergency since 2003, remains high.
ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said on Friday the combination of "extreme heat, wind, and a dry landscape" would place residents, especially those in the south of Tuggeranong, at risk over the weekend.
