New rules to sack top mandarins

New rules to investigate and sack underperforming federal departmental secretaries are on the way after the failings identified in the robo-debt royal commission.

The rules will enable “better handling of sustained underperformance of secretaries, including appropriate consequences” including “publishing a secretaries’ performance framework and process”, Public Service Minister Katy Gallagher says.
