Navy shambles is now Labor’s to fix, or own
The new naval shipbuilding plan contains some sensible decisions. But there are still risks and failure will be on the Albanese government.
Following the release of Tuesday’s surface fleet review, any stuff-ups with naval shipbuilding now firmly belong to the Albanese government.
In one sense, plans to recapitalise the navy’s surface fleet puts a heavier burden of accountability on the government than the acquisition of nuclear-powered submarines.
