Dutton demands visa ban on Gazans

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke vowed there would be “no compromise” on national security, revealing more than 7000 Palestinians visa applications had been rejected after Opposition Leader Peter Dutton demanded a ban on anyone from Gaza entering Australia.

In comments that alarmed Palestinian groups and put him at odds with spy chief Mike Burgess, Mr Dutton said the security risk was too great to grant entry to people fleeing war-torn Gaza, a day after the Coalition called for more stringent security checks.
