Fresh from dressing down the big four consulting firms for disrupting the tax system with risky advice, ATO deputy Jeremy Hirschhorn said Australia has some of the best compliance by large corporations anywhere in the world.
Acknowledging broad public scepticism about business meeting its tax obligations, Mr Hirschhorn used an interview with The Australian Financial Review to argue corporate tax performance was approaching 98 per cent and Australians could have confidence in efforts to crack down on avoidance.
