For about half an hour on Tuesday, there was strong speculation inside Parliament that Angus Taylor was going to be the first ministerial scalp of the re-elected Morrison government.

It had been confirmed just before question time that the NSW Police were investigating the case of Taylor using a doctored document to try to embarrass Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore over climate change, only for the whole shebang to blow up, both in his face and for the newspaper that published it.
