Liberal deputy Ted O’Brien withdraws support for net zero

Deputy Liberal leader Ted O’Brien has joined the ranks of those advocating the party dump its commitment to net zero emissions as moderate MPs hit out publicly at the proposal and urged their colleagues to show some backbone.

O’Brien, a former shadow energy minister, declined repeatedly to endorse sticking with net zero on Tuesday and colleagues said he was aligned with other conservative members of the leadership group who want to walk away from the policy, after the Nationals abandoned it.
