Almost 80 per cent of readers believe advertising for online gambling apps such as Sportsbet, Bet365 and Pointsbet should be banned, while a further 15 per cent say they should at least be prohibited during sports broadcasts.

The survey of 635 readers of The Australian Financial Review reflects polls in The Sydney Morning Herald and a YouGov poll in 2020, which found about 80 per cent of respondents wanted ads during sport more tightly restricted.
