McCormack demands unity after Joyce defeat

Michael McCormack has thwarted a challenge by Barnaby Joyce, and David Littleproud has replaced Bridget McKenzie as deputy leader at this morning's meeting of the Nationals.

The attempted spill was motivated by claims Mr McCormack did not cut through with regional voters and Mr Joyce was needed to keep at bay the threat of One Nation and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.
