Liberal MP Bridget Archer split with colleagues to support the Albanese government’s national housing fund on Wednesday night, rejecting the Coalition’s opposition and warning too many vulnerable people have nowhere to live.

Labor and the Greens are continuing negotiations over passage of the plan through the Senate in early March. The Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) is set to use financial returns from a $10 billion future fund account to pay for 30,000 new social and affordable housing properties over five years.
