I was surprised to read Monday’s editorial “How SA Labor needs to govern” (March 21), which claims the public debt position of South Australia was better than that of Queensland.

I’d like to set out some facts. When both states’ budget updates were delivered in December, less than $1 billion separated our debt positions, with Queensland at $17.5 billion and South Australia at $16.8 billion.
