Top litigator to head competition watchdog

The federal government has tapped top litigator Gina Cass-Gottlieb to head the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, turning to a commercial lawyer who has helped big companies win major court battles against the competition watchdog.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said on Tuesday that Gilbert + Tobin partner Ms Cass-Gottlieb would become the first woman to lead the ACCC after Rod Sims stands down as chairman next year.
