Labor warned not to risk Future Fund on ‘pet projects’

New Future Fund boss Greg Combet and Treasurer Jim Chalmers have been warned by David Murray, the $212 billion sovereign wealth fund’s first chairman, not to risk taxpayer money on “nation building” projects such as green energy and housing.

Dr Chalmers announced on Monday that Mr Combet, a former Labor climate change minister and industry superannuation director, would succeed the outgoing Future Fund chairman, former Liberal federal treasurer Peter Costello.
